In the gripping crime drama Akka, a homeless person wakes up to discover a bag containing one million yen in cash. Soon, this money recirculates into the public, but authorities quickly realize the bills are high-quality counterfeit notes. To track down the source of these flawless duplicates, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department summons a specialized counterfeit expert. Meanwhile, Detective Erika Miyazono, played by Meisa Kuroki, goes undercover at a local jewelry store to investigate its connection to a money laundering scheme. During her sting operation, Erika discovers a major investor named Nonomiya Mitsuhiro, played by Oikawa, and attempts to get close to him. As Detective Erika gets drawn deeper into Nonomiyas complex plans, she eventually uncovers the mystery of who left the counterfeit cash for the homeless and, more importantly, learns Nonomiyas true purpose.
