Set against the backdrop of modern China's rapid economic boom, the powerful drama A Touch of Sin weaves together the lives of four ordinary individuals pushed to their absolute limits. Spanning four different provinces, this gripping film explores the dark side of a growing economic giant slowly being eroded by violence.

The story follows four distinct paths. An angry miner decides to revolt against the rampant corruption of his village leaders. Meanwhile, a migrant worker returning home for the New Year discovers the deadly possibilities a firearm can offer. In another province, a pretty receptionist at a local sauna is pushed to the edge when she is assaulted by a wealthy client. Finally, a young factory worker wanders from job to job, desperately trying to improve his difficult life.

These four separate lives, divided by geography and social status, ultimately collide with the harsh realities of modern society, culminating in sudden and shocking acts of violence.
