In the psychological thriller A Liar and a Broken Girl, a small rural town is gripped by fear as a serial killer targets women and two young siblings go missing. High school sophomore Mayu Misono, also known as Machang, lives isolated in a mansion, deeply traumatized by a childhood kidnapping. Her fragile world takes a dark turn when she kidnaps two local children. Suddenly, her childhood friend Miikun, who was kidnapped alongside her ten years ago, reappears. To protect Mayu, Miikun helps hide her crime, and they begin a bizarre life together with the kids. Meanwhile, Detective Kamiyashi suspects a connection between the current cases and the abduction from a decade ago. Kamiyashi consults psychiatrist Dr. Sakashita, who warns that Mayu's mental stability relies on a dangerous, buried lie. As the detective zeroes in on Mayu as the prime suspect, Miikun risks his life to protect her, slowly revealing the shocking truth of their past and the unexpected real criminal.
