A Dream Comes True follows Sanghyeon, a struggling third-rate comedian working in a shady nightclub, played by Cha InPyo. His life takes an unexpected turn when he witnesses a fatal car accident involving a mysterious man. Before dying, the man begs Sanghyeon to deliver his son, Jaeyeong, and a briefcase to his family. Desperate to clear his heavy gambling debts, Sanghyeon accepts a large cash offer from the deceased man's family to escort young Jaeyeong to his mother in Donghae, South Korea. Sanghyeon plans to use the reward money at a casino in nearby Jeongseon. However, their arrival in Donghae brings disaster: the mother is missing, and ruthless loan sharks seize all of Sanghyeon's money. Stranded and broke, Sanghyeon and the heartbroken Jaeyeong cross paths with Hana, played by Kim HyoJin, a drifter and cheap dancer. Together, this unlikely trio embarks on a heartwarming yet challenging journey to track down the boy's missing mother.
