In the supernatural action movie 2002, Special Unit 2002 is a specialized task force of the SPI Spirit Paranormal Investigation department. Their mission is to rid the human world of evil haunting spirits using an execution team consisting of a man and a ghost. Psychic officer Chiu, played by Nicholas Tse, is currently partnered with the ghost Sam, played by Sam Lee. However, as Sam's time for reincarnation approaches, Chiu learns that Fung, played by Stephen Fung, is destined to be his new partner. Although Fung is gifted with the supernatural vision to see spirits, he is ironically too terrified of the dead to help during combats. The reluctant duo must quickly find common ground as a major threat looms. An inevitable battle with the mighty Water Ghost is set to bring them together, ultimately determining the fate and foe of this destined man and ghost partnership in their fight against darkness.
