The story follows twelve-year-old Mitsuko, who suffers horrific abuse from her father, Gozu, and mental torment from her jealous mother, Sayuri. Locked in a cello case, Mitsuko is forced to witness her parents' intimate encounters. Following her mother's fatal fall, Mitsuko's fragile psyche fractures, leading her to believe she has transformed into Sayuri. The continuous abuse pushes her to a failed suicide attempt, leaving her wheelchair-bound. However, the narrative takes a dark, meta-fictional turn when it appears these traumatic events are actually the plot of a new novel by Taeko, a reclusive, disabled author. When Taeko's editor assigns his assistant, Yuji, to work with her, Yuji begins a clandestine investigation into Taeko's mysterious past while being drawn into her deepest, darkest fantasies. This gripping film blends psychological horror with surreal mystery, leaving audiences questioning what is reality and what is fiction.
