In early 1948, the gripping historical spy drama Had Not Elapsed Time unfolds in Jiangdu. To destroy the active communist underground organization led by Jin Tinghuai, the Confidential Bureau dispatches their legendary spy, Wu, who infiltrates the group under the alias Deng Kai. While Tang Kai and Xu Yiming work alongside him, the suspicious Ye Sang begins a silent, secret battle of wits against Deng Kai. As the liberation war nears victory, Deng Kai eliminates core targets and goes into hiding, even murdering Xu Yiming and Ye Lan to cover his tracks and clear his name. Convinced of Deng Kai’s guilt, Ye Sang relentlessly investigates him, but the cunning spy constantly destroys the evidence. In a desperate bid to escape tracking, Deng Kai flees to Xinjiang to join the Yuanjiang construction. However, Ye Sang pursues him, leading to a final, fatal confrontation in Xinjiang where all conspiracies are exposed, and Deng Kai is shot dead.
