In the movie Bet To Basic, Flying Dragon Chin Ka Lok is a low-level gangster with a bad gambling habit who offends three powerful gamble deceivers. Luckily, his cousin Roy Jordon Chan returns from America with extraordinary luck that saves him. Flying Dragon quickly takes Roy to Mahjong casinos to win money. However, after witnessing the tragic downfalls of Mahjong geniuses Hua San Yuan Yuen Wah and Ge He Qing Eric Kot, Roy decides not to chase the title of King of Mahjong. Despite this, Roy's incredible luck worries the aggressive Mie Luo Pang Jin Chi, who tries to harm him but accidentally injures Flying Dragon instead. This drives Roy to learn professional Mahjong techniques from Hua San Yuan. Meanwhile, Roy falls for fellow disciple Pei Er Rain Li, unaware she is Mie Luo's lover trying to steal his luck. When Roy is left in deep desperation, Ge He Qing recovers and teams up with Hua San Yuan to train Roy to become the next King of Mahjong.
