Barking Dogs Never Bite explores the profound disconnections of modern urban life. The story follows Yunju, a diffident man living in a large block of flats. Struggling with a pregnant wife and debating whether to bribe the dean to secure a professorship, he becomes increasingly irritated by a yapping dog in his building. On the other hand, Hyeonnam is an equally disengaged bookkeeper at the same block of flats, finding excitement only when she learns about a lost dog. Over the course of a few weeks, three dogs in the building go missing. Both Yunju and Hyeonnam have a mysterious connection to each disappearance, and so might a local janitor. As their paths cross, this dark comedy asks if it is truly a man-eat-dog world. Is there any cure for this overwhelming urban ennui, or can these isolated individuals finally find a way to connect?
